This scroll will help ye to understand a bit about the theory of Graymayre and the basic terms of the tuatha seen in magic and miracles in Temuair.

Magic

I have written this scroll as exactly as was told to me by the dark wizard, Dar, in Mileth.
((This information is exactly stated as it appears in the game and property of Nexon))

~Lethalia Horidre
Priestess of Deoch

Graymayre
These terms are meant for wizards and priests alike to learn of their magical abilities.

History
The tuatha brought magic to the world. Their tongue lives on as the language of magic and miracles.

Beag : Little
Most spells have a "beag" form, which is a lesser effect. The base spell or miracle has no prefix.
Example: beag srad

Mor
Some spells have a "mor" form, which is a grater effect.
Example: mor srad

Ard : Great
A few spells and a few great wizards or priests learn an "ard" form which is astounding.
Example: ard srad

Fein : Self
The spell or miracle only affects yourself.
Example: beag ioc fein

Comlha : Companions
The spell or miracle only affects your group.
Example: beag ioc comlha

Lamh : Hand, touching
This applies to the range of the spell or miracle.
Example: beag srad lamh

Meall
The spell or miracle affects a cluster instead of one creature.
Example: creag meall

Gar : Near
A few rare spells affect those that are near you.
Example: beag srad gar

Deum or Deur : Liquid
Combined with a magical effect this is a potion.
Example: beothaic deum

Elemental Graymayre

Elemental Graymayre is a secret that wizards alone can understand, but I have scribed this scroll as instructed by Xilan, exactly as it was taught him by Dar, the dark wizard of Mileth.

Introduction
The elements compose everything. Everything has combinations of the elements. A wizard wields them in their purer forms. An element is not only a physical manifestation. It is spiritual and emotional. Srad feels exciting. Athar feels analytical. Creag feels stable. Sal feels empathic and engrossing.

History
In the olden days of Hy-brasyl, the tuatha de danaan, "Children of Goddess of Light", danced with the elements. The elements enveloped mortals and existed in harmony. The tuatha learned to harness the elements. From this, the magic we know and wield sprang.

Srad
Arcane fire
Srad is hot, quick and dry. It begins things. It has no staying power.
Srad dominates athar.

Athar
Arcane air
Athar is fast and nimble. It is often cruel, while eating away.
Athar dominates creag.

Creag
Arcane earth
Creag is stable. It is slow to move. It is, therefore, confident and traditional.
Creag dominates sal.

Sal
Arcane water
Sal is fluid, accepting. It is enduring and immortal. When opposed it gives way and envelopes. It smothers and drowns, sometimes with kindness, sometimes with cruelty. Sal reflects whatever looks into it.
Sal dominates srad.

Relationships
Every element is weak against itself. This is the cycle of elements:
srad fas athar
athar fas creag
creag fas sal
sal fas srad

Here is the cycle of elements shown in their ancient positioning. The arrows show the directions of dominance. Each element is weak against itself.

Here is the table of elements showing the useful attacks and defense. "Fas" is the tuatha's word for "increase".

Creatures
Elements are the fabric of nature. Creatures are affected by different elements. There are several creatures which have been touched, or can touch the pure elements. This makes them very dangerous. You may find yourself assaulted by a wolf who summons a shock of athar upon you. However, knowing which element the creatures is kin to is your advantage.
Kinship is not always formed by species. Two members of a species may have different elements. Observe the creature. A rogue is keener than our lot. The rogue can directly sense which element a creature belongs to.

Artifacts
Necklaces, embued with an element, generally change the assault element of the wearer. Belts, embued with an element, generally change the defense element of the wearer.
