Test Your Internet Connection

Please follow these instructions. Click on the colored hyperlinks for details.
  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. Connect to the Internet.
  3. Close all other Internet applications such as web browser, ICQ, FTP, AIM, internet radio, or any other online applications. Do not download any files. These compete for limited Internet bandwidth.
  4. Play the game. When it takes several seconds to for the game to respond, then continue with this test. Testing when there is no delay cannot discover the problem. Test quickly to catch the problem.
  5. Press Alt-Tab to switch to your Desktop.
  6. Perform a trace route to Nexon's game service.
  7. If some of your results time out, do more traceroutes to see the address of the timed out hops.
  8. Discover the source of lag in the trace route.
  9. If you discover the source lag,
    1. Ping the source of lag.
    2. Find that internet node's website.
    3. Send a polite e-mail to the tech support at that node your results, the problem you are having. Include the results of your tests, such as trace route and ping.
    4. Find the preceding node's website.
    5. Send a polite e-mail to the tech support at that preceding node, also. Include the results of your tests, such as trace route and ping. Ask the preceding node to reroute your connection in order to bypass the lagging node.
Hopefully this will help. Nexon ensures that its gaming service is fast and responsive, but as soon as our game information enters the Internet, we cannot control the speed or reliability of its route to your specific computer. That depends on thousands of miles of Internet, and many ISP computers in between our gaming service and your computer.

Lag is sometimes an unfortunate reality given current Internet technology. Nexon gaming service requires a reliable internet connection to play. Even if you have purchased a powerful internet connection, internet problems may still occur at one of the many nodes of the vast Internet.
