Where can I find someone to make a custom portrait for me?

Click on users in the game that have portraits that you like. Ask the player.

Where can I find someone to tailor, hairstyle, smith, enchant, or brew a potion for me?

Some skilled players can do this. Find another player that has these items and politely begin a discussion on the treasured item.

Manual

There was some information in the manual that I believe could use improvement.

Thank you. You have pointed out a good oversight.

Have you had a chance to see www.darkages.com/atavism and www.darkages.com/atavism/contest.html?
You may be interested to hear that you can gain experience points and social recognition for creating better information for any section. If your text is one of the best, you can also teach Lore in Mileth University and receive thousands of experience points for each player student that you teach.

I'm having lag in Dark Ages

We understand and sympathize with your plight. Please be aware that you are playing through up to 6000 miles of internet cables, several routers, hops, and switches. That is where the lag is. Our servers are designed to hold thousands of players with no lag. In fact, our fellow server in Korea has 7500 players connected at the same time with no server lag problem. We monitor our server performance tightly, keeping software, hardware, and data strictly within high performance range. The result: no server lag.

Please take a moment to learn more about this epidemic that affects your entertainment, what you can do to isolate and eliminate it: http://www.darkages.com/support/trace_route.htm

Society

I can't enter the village commons where the political functions are

You are not a citizen of this village. If you want to be, Politely persuade a respected citizen to admit you as a citizen.

Is being evil allowed?

Role-playing an evil character is allowed. Being banished by a guard or exiled by a politician for being evil is also allowed.

Is there player vs. player in Dark Ages?

Not normally. There are some ways to assault other players.
  • Worshippers of the God of Destruction can summon demons.
  • Players with political power can attack other players and remove them from political office.
  • Guards can banish; politicians can exile.

If I break Nexon's License Agreement, does a player-political official have the right to punish me or remove me from their jurisdiction.

Yes. In fact, other citizens of the society would think the official were conspiring with the violator if it wasn't prosecuted or at least reported to Nexon. See more on political and social features.

Nexon's staff is far too busy maintaining technical service and creating your entertainment to address petty disputes, but gross violations, such as in-game unwarranted, rejected and repeated harassment outside the accepted social laws will be swiftly and severely be removed.

Nexon cannot and will not consider matters that happen outside the game.

I was banished or exiled from a village, but I didn't do anything wrong.

Please contact the player that placed you there and politely explain your situation. Possibly she mistook you for someone else that has a past record of creating strange names and immediately committing unspeakable acts on players as young as 12.

If you are in Salachar, step towards the center of the room and the name of that player will appear after reading through some of the other information provided.

You can be readmitted the village by several other players. For example, any Guard of the town may forgive your banishment. Any Demagogue or Burgess of the village may forgive your exile. You needn't see eye-to-eye with the original guard or politician.

If, after politely explaining your plight, you feel yourself unjustly banished or exiled, there are several players that may be persuaded to remove the politician from power. Perhaps you will need to create a temporary character to communicate your plight, and, if need be, to investigate your own political powers and create retaliatory alliances within Mileth's Village Hall.

  1. Directions to Mileth Village Hall from the Mileth Inn:
  2. Walk down the south (down-screen) road.
  3. Follow the turn of the road. Walk across the bridge.
  4. Turn right, and continue south (down-screen)
  5. Cross the second bridge. Leave through the south gate.
  6. Follow the rocks on the east side (right-screen).
  7. Go through the path on the far right.
  8. Where the road forks, go left.
  9. A brown wooden can be clicked on. It states that this is the Mileth Village Hall.

If you are unfamiliar with Dark Ages setting and society, I recommend reading through the Manual installed with the client, and taking the tutorial. The tutorial may be initiated by any mundane (NPC) in Mileth. It explains everything from basic controls, to a player-run society. Completing it also offers several rewards to your character.

How can mundanes offer 100 clout for the best talent of Temuair?

There are roughly 20 mundanes unseen for every Aisling. Surely each of your Aislings has a mundane family, friends, enemies, and other relations. The mundanes do not have the imaginative spark and are thrilled to be told a great tale or be given a work great talent. Look in the library. It's only possible for all the mundanes of all Temuair once every 3 seasons to offer this much power for a work of History. See all.

It is a humble bonus for beautiful imagination. By comparison, 3 accounts with 5 Aislings per account times 4 weeks times 2 supports per week can generate 120 clout.

I was banished or exiled from a village, and I'm not sure why, or I don't agree with it.

You may find the laws of each village posted outside the village. The laws are created by players. Each law-maker is elected and can be de-elected by the players of that village. So all the laws are supported by most of the player-citizens of a village.

Dark Ages is a role-playing game, with a player-run society. Player powers include checks and balances.

You are in your world now. If you wish vengeance, look in a village hall to learn what powers you and potential allies possess.

If I win a contest, how will I know?
