Frequently Asked Questions About Shadows of Temuair

Q: When will Dark Ages: Shadows of Temuair be released?
A: Dark Ages: Shadows of Temuair ((Shadows)) will be released in May. Although a firm date release has yet to be given - as many facets of the game are still in development and testing - it can be ready for testing as early as May 15th.

Q: Is Shadows an extension of the existing game of Dark Ages?
A: No. Although the background story has a common thread with the new game, Shadows will be a totally stand alone game. All of the graphics and many of the maps will look the same but the entire structure of the game will be different. After the Beta Test, no character playing Dark Ages will be able to move onto Shadows and vice versa.

Q: Will there be a Beta Test for Shadows?
A: Yes. Once it is ready for testing, a copy of all current characters will be loaded onto the game server for Shadows. Although the translation of those characters from one game to the other may cause many things to become lost or changes ((Such as spells, items, legend marks, etc.)) The basics of the character ((Hit points, level, stats, etc.)) should remain. This is to allow you to test all levels and classes in the game with familiar characters. This test will be free and last approximately one week.

Q: What if I don't want to participate in the Beta Test?
A: Then you do not need to. Dark Ages will continue to operate as normal during this beta test.

Q: Will my character in Dark Ages be affected by this 'copy' onto Shadows?
A: No. The character is merely a copy of the current character on the Dark Ages server. Whether or not you partake in the beta test, all characters will remain the same on Dark Ages, independent of Shadows, and continue to grow within that game environment.

Q: Will I be able to play the same character on Shadows that I have on Dark Ages after the Beta Test?
A: No. After the week long beta test, the characters will be purged from the game. Then, anyone can create any character with any name. These characters will be independant from the Dark Ages game. Therefore, one account can have a character named "Thomas" registered in Dark Ages and another account can have registered "Thomas" for Shadows. No names will be saved or reserved for Shadows.

Q: How will Shadows be different from Dark Ages?
A: There are many things that will be different. The main difference will be the society within Shadows. There will be no political system, no religions, no monastery and no need to find a mentor to choose a path. Also some of the creatures, items, spells and skills are different in names, abilities and functions.

Q: If there is no political system in Shadows, is there no law?
A: To a point, yes. There will be no judges or guards prohibiting you from doing various actions - such as stealing items. So, you need to be careful and responsible for yourself more than ever. However, the user agreement is still in effect so that anything that would violate that agreement can be enforced by Nexon, Inc.

Q: If I have an account with Dark Ages, will I need to purchase a new one for Shadows?
A: No. All accounts, current and new, will have 10 character 'slots'. Five of these will be for Dark Ages characters while the other five will be for Shadows.

Q: With one account, can I play on Dark Ages while a friend plays on Shadows?
A: No. The user agreement states that each account purchased will be for only one person - the owner of the account. If a character on that account is playing Dark Ages, no character on that account will be able to enter Shadows until the character disconnects from Dark Ages - and vice versa.
