The Arts
... 99.08.29 Mundanes build a quaint place for Aislings to teach and learn The Arts: History, Literature, Lore, and Philosophy. These are built around the Mileth Library. Village Bards, Historians, Lorekeepers, and Philosophers may hold class in their subject. For example, a Historian may give a history lesson. Doing so greatly increases the student's experience. It also increases the teacher's experience for each student he teaches. The amount of experience points increases for the recognition of the teacher: Village, Folk, or Aisling, and the level of the student. Higher leveled students gain more experience, because in the same amount of time they could gain more by slaying creatures. The gain is not proportional to the level; it is meant only to make it worthwhile to higher level players, without being overwhelming to lower level players. Classes require about 5 Temuairan days of study to complete. Since Temuairan time is 8 times faster than Earth time this means you could only take 1 class per day. However, you may consider the knowledge you gained from the teacher and the experience you gained well-worth it. As with all crafts, such as tailoring, smithing, your playing time is not actually impinged upon. It may take your character 5 Temuairan days, but you reap the benefits here and now. It means you will have to wait until tomorrow to reap more benefits. Teachers control who finishes their class, and may remove or banish (for 1 real life hour) a disturbance from all college areas. Mundane Uistean of Mileth Library requests that teachers post their class times and descriptions upon the grey slate outside of Mileth Library. Uistean believes that teachers who take this initiative display their dedication to The Arts, to their fellow Aislings, to their students' education, and that it allows teachers to coordinate their classes. He and all the mundanes are eager to learn what classes the Aisling (player) teachers offer. For detailed information, attend a class.
